As part of Ohio House of Representatives Bill 153, the Ohio legislature recognized the health hazards of diesel fume exhaust. The bill proposed a grant to encourage the retrofitting and replacement of older, diesel emitting engines. The Governor of Ohio signed this bill into law in September of this year.

Diesel fume exhaust is linked to many types of cancer, includinglung cancer. Additionally, diesel fumes and diesel exhaust can contribute or cause other pulmonary diseases, including COPD.
