Today is National Mesothelioma Awareness Day. On Monday, November 29, 2010, the Honorable Betty McCollum of Minnesota brought House Resolution 771 to the floor. This Resolution was to recognize National Mesothelioma Awareness Day on September 26th of 2010. In her speech, Ms. McCollum discussed her personal connection with the disease, which is nearly exclusively caused by asbestos. Her predecessor in Congress was diagnosed with Pleural Mesothelioma five years earlier.

Today, many people have taken up the fight to bring awareness to this rare cancer. The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is a non-profit group that aims to bring awareness, fundraise for mesothelioma research, and to advocate for federal funding to study the disease.

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation has asked all of its followers to share this picture to help educate the public and raise awareness for this cancer.
