rail worker

A BNSF Railway employee was tragically killed when he fell from a locomotive while switching freight cars in the BNSF Globeville Yard in Denver, Colorado. According to a preliminary report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), a remote-control operator helper was attempting to climb the stairs of a locomotive when the equipment began to move. Unfortunately, the worker fell from the front of the locomotive and was killed before the emergency brakes could stop the train. A preliminary review of a yard surveillance video indicated slack action in the train consist during the train’s movement. The NTSB investigation is still ongoing.
