We previously noted the accomplishments of the Cleveland Clinic in a clinical study demonstrating that a breath test may be able to detect the presence of lung cancer and even distinguish between different types of lung cancer. In the October issue of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, there is another test of this non-invasive breath analysis. The small pilot study evaluated whether the breath analysis could distinguish between benign and malignant nodules as well as adenocarcinoma vs squamous cell and early vs advanced disease. The results were promising, and the authors called for further tests to evaluate this non-invasive analysis.
