November is nationally recognized as Lung Cancer Awareness Month. It is important to bring awareness to this disease, because bringing awareness can lead to early detection and early detection of lung cancer can increase survival rates.

Hospitals and other organizations across the country are holding events to bring awareness to lung cancer and its causes. Roswell Park Cancer Institute has created an online risk assessment to help people understand the risk factors that may lead to lung cancer. Roswell Park’s risk assessment includes occupational (work-related) exposures to diesel fumes, soot and asbestos as well as cigarette smoking.

If you have been exposed to asbestos or diesel exhaust while working for the railroad and would like more information, please contact us.
